I get the business reality, I really do. If you don't have the compute, you don't exist in 2026. But the cold-blooded nature of this shift, where thirty thousand families get disrupted so Oracle can rent out massive concrete slabs filled with silicon to Sam Altman, it shows you exactly where the power lies now. This is the third time Google has missed a critical target for this model, and the market absolutely hammered them for it, dragging Alphabet shares down four percent. Now the rumor mill is spinning that they're scrambling to patch the gap with some kind of emergency Gemini three point six Flash release just to show they have a pulse. But honestly, a missed deadline is the least of their worries right now. The European Commission just dropped an absolute hammer on them. Under the Digital Markets Act, Google has been ordered to completely open up Android to AI rivals by July 2027. They have to open up native voice activation and deep cross-app integration across eleven key feature groups, and they have to start sharing anonymized search, query, and click data by January 2027. Think about that. The entire moat that Google built over two decades, the default search data, the seamless Android integration, is being forcibly dismantled. Now, on one hand, you can argue this is what real competition looks like. Why should Google get to lock up the gateway to mobile AI? But on the other hand, the timing of this is incredibly risky for Western tech. While the EU is busy unbundling Android, China's Moonshot AI is absolutely tearing up Western coding benchmarks with their Kimi K3 model, which is a massive two point eight trillion parameter open-source beast. If we hamstring our own platforms with endless regulatory unbundling while global competitors face zero such restrictions, we might find ourselves with a beautifully open, perfectly fair ecosystem that nobody actually wants to use because the state-backed models from abroad have completely lapped us.
